The definition of a concept for Badel Block started from a general analysis related to the positioning of the intervention area towards the centre of the city considering essential to integrate Badel in a circuit of green spaces and sights of the city of Zagreb. Thus Badel becomes part of the routes related to tourism and culture, and also a constituent part of a pre-existing network of green spaces and leisure areas.
For the Block Badel the concept of "Badel 24/7" was created by promoting various types of experiences and activities that aim at attracting/awakening people of all ages to experience moments of day and night of the proposed space (24 hours/day, 7 days/week).
Strategic planning was based on the notion of "creative cities" by election culture as a key element in the revitalization of the city making them more productive and efficient. The culture, art and science are articulated to the strategy as a tool for wealth creation through technological innovation, artistic creativity and good business management of cultural products, allowing to Badel compete globally.
The proposed architectural object had into account the protected buildings and the creation of two distinct elements interconnected (building/block and tower). The rehabilitation for the protected buildings proved to be essential so that Badel did not lose its identity.
Access to the interior of the block is done through openings in the implementation of the building including openings in the facade of the southern protected building allowing the acessibility to the centre (square). The square appears as a central element of life experiences and socialization, encompassing economic (cafes, nightclubs) and cultural activities (outdoor exhibitions, workshops of art) and access to the library.
